American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS)

For Senior, Junior and Pre-Dissertation Fellowships for US Citizens:
The American Institute of Bangladesh Studies accepts research fellowship applications for scholars interested in conducting research that involves Bangladesh in all academic disciplines. All fellowships must be a minimum of two months, but no longer than twelve months. These grants are supported by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs through the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

All fellowship travel is subject to State Department travel restrictions. Due to potential security concerns in Bangladesh, all scholars must carry out research in a country other than Bangladesh or the US.

All awardees must be an AIBS individual member prior to commencing the fellowship. Individual membership costs $25 annually.  Please click here for membership information.

Senior Fellowship applications from AIBS member institutions in the US will incur no additional fees; applications from non-member institutions require submission of a $250 membership fee before an award will be dispersed. If you are a senior scholar and your institution is not an AIBS member, you will incur a $250 fee. Your institution may become a member. Please click herefor more information. These fees do not apply to Junior and Pre-Dissertation applicants.
